Frequently Asked Questions for Dog Grooming

Here you can find answers to many questions. If your have a pirticular questions you can search through the below table for key words like "price" "hours" "insurance" "restrictions" "whats included" and more by holding "commend+F"  at the same time for Mac and IOS and

  • Do I need an appointment or do you accept walk-ins?

I do not accept any walk-in appointments. I service each pet at their home inside my mobile spa which requires an appointment each and every time.

  • Do you offer same day or next day service?

I do not offer any same day appointments. Your wait for an appointment will vary but after the first appointment is performed you will never have to wait again as we will pre-book your appointments each time.

  • Do I have to stay on schedule?

All of our routes are created by neighborhood. This means that if you do not stay on a schedule you may not be able to get back on our route. After the first appointment, we offer a schedule of 2, 4 and 6 weeks. We are unable to offer appointments on a makeover base (when your pet is very dirty) and only offer a maintenance service to assure your dog's safety. Dogs are creatures of habit but also forget things without reputation, this is why it is so important to keep your pet on a regular grooming schedule. Groomers work with your moving, wiggling doggie with sharp tools around its fragile skin and body parts. A dog who is moving, spinning, trying to jump off a table or out of a bathtub because it is not used to being groomed will most likely be the doggie to get hurt.

  • How long does the grooming take?

Grooming takes about an hour to an hour and a half. The first session is always the longest as I take extra time to get to know your pets movements, needs, places she or he won't let me touch and much more. After I'm comfortable around your pet and so is your pet the grooming should not take more than an hour.

  • Can I stay with my pet during the grooming?

Unfortunately, this is not a possibility. My insurance will not allow anyone to be in my work area while I'm grooming. Pets are much calmer when parents are not around. It is just like a child. When you are around they may be shy and clingy but if you leave they play and interact with others. The same happens with your pooch. With an owner there a dog will NEVER remind still enough for me to groom.

  • When is my dogs' haircut more than mine?

10. Your hairdresser doesn't wash and clean your rear end.

9. You don't go eight weeks without washing or brushing your hair.

8. Your hairdresser doesn't give you a sanitary trim.

7. Your hairdresser doesn't clean your ears.

6. Your hairdresser doesn't remove the boogies from your eyes.

5. You sit still for your hairdresser.

4. Your haircut doesn't include a manicure or pedicure.

3. Your hairdresser only washes and cuts the hair on your head...

2. You don't bite or scratch your hairdresser.

1. The likelihood of you pooping on the hairdresser is pretty slim.

Tough to argue any of these points and now will write that check with a smile on my face!

  • What is your cancellation policy?

While I love to help every pet feel and look their best, I'm only one groomer and have the pleasure of  providing this service to over 150 doggies, which means that  cancelations made less than 3 business days before set appointment have a great impact on my ability to adjust my driving routes and fit people into their desired days. Appointments canceled less 3 business days before set date may result in being rescheduled for 4-6 weeks from the cancelation date or your next set appointment as I'm no longer able to move appointments around like I use to.  The cost of your next appointment will be double the set price in order to compensate time and effort from a skipped appointment and could mean your pet may need to be shaved down as I do not offer to brush out painful matting.

All clients are allowed one cancelation per year without a fee. After the second cancellation, you must pre-pay in order to make your third appointment.

As my client, you are aware I work and run my business alone and last-minute cancelations add up over time, creating a large loss of income for my business and family.

Please be respectful of the time I set aside for your pet. I understand that emergencies happen, this is why I offer a key service and have many clients who adore this option. All you need to do is leave a key or garage code and disable your alarms. Your key, if given to me will be kept in a secure location and WILL NOT be labeled with your name or address.

  • Are your shampoos safe?

All products used on my salon are all natural from shampoos to the floor cleaner.

You can request shampoos like oatmeal, dirty dog, smell eliminator, all at no extra cost.

  • Is there a weight limit?

I groom pets under 25lbs for full haircuts and bath only smooth coated breeds under 40 lbs.

  • Are you insured and educated?

I'm insured, bonded and graduated from NYC grooming academy.

I have 10 years of experience.

  • When is it best to have my puppy groomed for the first time?

I like to start puppies grooming right around 8-12 weeks old. We start with a few sessions of brush, bath, drying, an introduction to tools sounds and vibrations before doing a haircut. It is important for pet parents to know that a puppies first grooming experience sets the tone for the rest of their life! You should not expect a full haircut on the first try. Although abnormalities happen and sometimes I feel it is safe to do so on the first grooming session, in most cases, this takes accommodation and repetition first. This is why starting off when your pet is still young is so important. Too many times pets are brought into a salon at 5 or 10 months ago and completely matted, the worse part if that there is nothing we can do to save their hair or a lot of times to help at all. In many cases, dogs will end up having to go to the vet to be shaved under general anesthesia to keep them safe.

  • Is my pet too old to be groomed?

Because of insurance restrictions we are not able to take on dogs over 10 years of age. If you are a client before your dog turns 10 we will continue grooming them, this only applies to new clients.

  • What safety procedures are in place to make sure my dog doesn’t get hurt?

Our salon is set up in a way so that everything is accessible to the groomer which means the groomer will never take their hand of your pet. A pet is NEVER EVER left unattended on the table! The loop is never tied around its neck rather through the front of the chest.

In case of an emergency, we have a first aid kit for the pet and the groomer.

  • My dog is matted why won't you brush him out?

I'm going to be transparent here. I hear this all the time. "My pet is matted but you can brush him right ?"

No, your pet would be in a large amount of pain! It HURTS A LOT! It's not fair for the dog to suffer... Imagine not brushing your hair for 10 weeks and then somebody brushing it out in 15 mins...Yes, a grooming appointment is an hour long but brushing should take no longer then 5 min, the rest of the time is spent cleaning your dog, drying and giving it a haircut.

If your dog is severely matted they will be shaved down and started on a regular grooming schedule which will allow us to keep their hair Pinterest perfect.
